- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Pinot Meunier & Pinot Noir, these two varieties get along so well.
This is a fresh, fruit-driven wine that is geared towards fun in the sun drinking. It combines the vibrant red berry flavours of these two varieties with a touch of stalk influence to beautiful effect.
The two varieties were picked separately a little earlier this year as Michael, “just saw a lot of flavour coming through early and I still really wanted that light, bright style”
Think of the ideal red wine style to drink in the Aussie summer and your on the right track. Pop it in the fridge if you like, it won’t hurt it a bit. Slim to none oak influence just pure, lively fruit full of character and personality.
What It Tastes Like
Soft and pillowy red full to the brim of joyous red fruits. Some gamey characters and a dusting of green herbs from the whole buch component add layers of complexity to what is a straight up, smashable drink of lovely balance and delicious fruit flavours.
A blend of Pinot Meunier 60% & Pinot Noir 40% from vineyards in the Piccadilly Valley & Oakbank. Meunier from the more delicate prettier Oakbank vineyard and the Pinot Noir from a very cool South facing Pinot Noir block in the higher parts of the Piccadilly Valley, producing Pinot Noir with high natural acid and exotic spices.
These two batches were fermented separate using a high proportion of whole bunches, spontaneous fermentation and a gentle extraction approach to produce two very delicate styles of wine. Each parcel matured in natural French barriques for 5 months before bottling with no fining or filtration. 3 month in bottle before release to be enjoyed young and fresh over the warmer months.
Closure: Screw Cap

About the Producer
Murdoch Hill is a family-owned winery captained by talented young winemaker Michael Downer. Downer splits the range in two: his clean-cut, consistently high-quality ‘Estate’ wines are excellent value and perpetually reliable, and his quirky, adventurous ‘Artisan’ wines which offer an alt-styling and different shades of the region. With the combination of high-quality Adelaide Hills fruit grown on the family estate and the undoubted talent in the winery, this is a Hills producer on the up and up!
The Adelaide Hills may be the most energised wine region in the country. The sense of exploration and creativity amongst the tribe of talented young winemakers in this region is unparralelled. The Hills has become crucible of Australian wine talent, offering an array of varieties, from classics such as Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, to new varieties like Nebbiolo and Grüner Veltliner for the younger generation to play with. Every vintage brings new colour and complexity to the rich wine, food and produce culture of this cool climate region.
