Montalto manages six excellent vineyards across the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. They take their winemaking very seriously, their Rose is no exception. This is a complex and thought-provoking style, a wine built around layers of flavour and subtle textural nuances. It's incredibly impressive whilst being incredibly easy to drink. James Halliday was suitably impressed by the entire package, awarding it 96 points after marvelling at the time and attention paid to this often neglected wine style. If you want stylish Rose with a little more detail than usual, this lovely little wine should suit you down to the ground.

What it Tastes Like

"Pinot noir processed using a combination of saignee, whole bunch pressing and carbonic maceration, fermented and aged in used French oak for 4 months. It's doubtful that any other rose on the market today receives such complex vinification. The bouquet radiates red cherry and plum fruits with a subtext of the gently spicy/savoury nuances that take form and shape on the bone dry palate - a dryness that is absolute yet doesn't imperil the fluid, almost slippery, character of the palate. Bravo." - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)
