- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
If you’ve been enjoying the wines of emerging McLaren Vale producer Lino Ramble, then here’s another little beauty of a drink for you!
Being a McLaren Vale producer through and through it seemed only a matter of time until Andy and Angela added a straight Shiraz to their ever-growing range, but this 2016 ‘Vinyl’ Shiraz is far from your typical MV milkshake.
It’s bright, fragrant, no more than medium bodied, and full of lively, jubey dark fruits. Gary Walsh called it “Fresh faced and fun” in his 91 point review and that really sums it up nicely. The value here is excellent, the sheer drinkability even better.
What It Tastes Like
“Has a bit of perfume and spice, smells of licorice allsorts, blueberry and raspberry. Medium bodied though, kind of juicy, full of red and black fruits, grainy tannin – a pleasing rusticity – fresh perfumed finish of satisfying length. Fresh faced and fun. Good now, but a few years won’t do it any harm at all.” - Gary Walsh
**91 points “Deep dark red, succulent, plump, ripe juicy fruit sprinkled with licorice seems to be key. The tannins have some grip, but there’s an easy-going feel to this drink.”
- James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)

2016 Vinyl Shiraz. 2016 Produced both above average yields and amazing fruit quality. Both winemakers and grapegrowers were cheering! Vinyl is medium bodied with loads of cherries and chocolate, black fruit vibrancy and freshness. Delicious.

About the Producer
Lino Ramble is the exciting creation of eccentric duo Andy Coppard (Winemaker) and Angela Townsend (self-proclaimed “Engine Driver”) born amongst the picturesque landscape of McLaren Vale. Their wines are built on the philosophy that “The right variety grown in right place, farmed in a sustainable fashion” is going to produce the best fruit and it looks like a winning formula. They focus on the classic Rhone varieties that have built the reputation of “The Vale” as well as adventuring into the realms of the likes of Nero d’Avola. Their wines have a distinct, textural feel and are brilliantly packaged and first class value for money.
The South Australian region of McLaren Vale is famous for its powerful red wines. Shiraz and Grenache have thrived for years in the Vale’s sandy soils. Nowadays, the region’s varietal diversity has majorly increased, the coastal location and warm climate proving perfect for a new wave of varieties from Italy, Spain and Portugal. The success of varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, and Fiano has transformed McLaren Vale into one of the country’s most vibrant wine scenes. It’s where tradition meets innovation and it is producing some of the Australia’s finest wines.
Long held up to the rest of the world as Australia’s flagship red variety, the mighty Australian Shiraz has undergone something of a renaissance over the past two decades. While our robust styles of Shiraz from powerhouse South Australian regions such as the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale may have put Australian wine on the map, Shiraz from our cooler regions are giving the variety a new look. Wines from Canberra, all parts of Victoria, the Adelaide Hills, and the Great Southern, are all delivering wines of finesse and spice set to a lighter framework. The tapestry of Australian Shiraz is richly diverse, and will only continue to develop and mature into the future.
