- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Campbell Mattinson named Jericho as a "Tiny producer making excellent wines." which pretty much sums it up. This is a fantastic take on an often misunderstood wine style. The key to this wine is the harmony struck between oak and fruit by winemaker Neil and Andrew Jericho. Balanced to perfection, this is one of the classiest examples of Fume Blanc in the country. The 2016 is an intelligently built wine, which as Campbell Mattinson observed, shows as "both seductive and sophisticated at once." A delightful wine for lovers of textural white wines.
What it Tastes Like
"Flavour, texture and length matched to juicy drinkability. What’s not to like? Preserved lemon, grapefruit, hints of smoked lemongrass, tropical fruit and slight candid note. It’s both seductive and sophisticated at once." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
94 points "Fermented in used French barrels, matured with lees stirring for 7 months. Has worked very well, giving texture and structure without diminishing the bright citrus, stone and tropical fruits." - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion) 93 points.
The style of a Fumé Blanc gives a wine with elegance and interest. The use of old French oak with a mild toast gives a subtle structure with fresh fragrant flavours. A rich lusciousness has been created from the wine ageing in the barrel while in contact with the yeast lees.

About the Producer
Jericho is one of the most exciting emerging producers in South Australia. Family owned and run with experienced winemaker Neil Jericho at the helm, they source both traditional and alternative varieties from various vineyards around McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. Neil sums up the Jericho philosophy: “in every wine I like to see varietal flavour and character. I don’t want to overpower the fruit with oak. It’s got to be in balance, with nothing sticking out. They’ve got to be drinkable!” Delicious, creative wines and sensational value.
The Adelaide Hills may be the most energised wine region in the country. The sense of exploration and creativity amongst the tribe of talented young winemakers in this region is unparralelled. The Hills has become crucible of Australian wine talent, offering an array of varieties, from classics such as Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, to new varieties like Nebbiolo and Grüner Veltliner for the younger generation to play with. Every vintage brings new colour and complexity to the rich wine, food and produce culture of this cool climate region.
