- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Larry Jacobs and his Hahndorf Hill team certainly aren’t afraid to do things a little differently, and this Rosé is different indeed!
It’s just your classic blend of Trollinger, Pinot Noir and Merlot, that’s all. For the one or two of you not familiar with Trollinger, it’s a little known German variety that was planted in the Hahndorf Hill vineyard by its original German owners, along with another of the winery’s specialities, Blaufrankisch.
Trollinger is a soft, fruit-forward grape that works well in this delicious little rosé, with the Pinot adding some acid and aromatics and Merlot filling out the palate.
It received 96 points from James Halliday, making it a delicious and interesting Rosé of very high quality.
What It Tastes Like
“39% trollinger, 36% pinot noir, 25% merlot picked and crushed together. The perfumed rose petal, spicy bouquet has the keys to open the door of a palate with exceptional drive to its mouthwatering array of all things red. It is dry and delicate yet totally intriguing, and perfectly balanced.” - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)

Our Rosé was awarded the Trophy for Best Rosé in the Adelaide Hills wine show in 2014 and again in 2015, plus the Trophy for Best Rosé at the Australian & New Zealand Boutique Wine Show 2016. Now the latest vintage has been awarded the Trophy at the Winewise Small Vigneron Awards 2016. Uniquely made from the Germanic red grape, Trollinger, and other selected Adelaide Hills red varieties. The juice from these grapes was fermented dry and crisp in stainless steel tanks. The wine has a beautiful watermelon juice colour and is fresh, light and dry on the palate with loads of cherries, quince and strawberry flavours. It has excellent structure which allows the wine to be the perfect match with all seafood, Thai or chilli-based cuisine. This is a rosé that will age well for between 5 - 7 years.
