Barney Flanders loves Pinot Noir, and his 2016 release of the value-packed Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir is another home run. Made from a blend of fruit from Barney's outstanding single vineyards, this represents the essence of Mornington Peninsular Pinot Noir. No whole bunches here and the emphasis is definitely on ripe Pinot fruit, showcasing the impeccable vineyard management and winemaking of this Mornington guru. It's unfined and unfiltered, with plenty of savoury complexity to balance the finish. Value for money wise, this is an Australian Pinot Noir star.

What it Tastes Like

Moody perfume of ripe black cherry, black earth, a hint of aniseed and smokey oak. This packs the flavour in tight. Full bodied, as far as Pinot goes, this is a more robust version of the variety than previous releases. Still carries the finesse of Barney's gentle touch, however. It's Pinot Noir with a unique personality.
