The Dr. Edge Tasmanian Pinot Noir is made by Peter Dredge, the winemaker at Meadowbank and one of the finalists for the 2017 Young Gun of Wine Awards.
This wine is made from fruit from across the Apple Isle. Peter has captured the lightness and purity of Tasmanian Pinot Noir beautifully here in the 2016 release.
With 97 points from James Halliday and 95 points from Gary Walsh, this is a rockstar wine from one of Australia’s most exciting young producers. Don’t hesitate, allocations are limited.
What It Tastes Like
“Delicate, but complex and layered too. Red cherry, plenty of spice and leaning to a dusting of pepper, roses and vanilla, smoke and a bit of funk: pretty, but a little wild. Light to medium bodied, supple and silky, red fruits with a touch of cranberry acidity, sweetness and freshness all in one (that wonderful little berry), some twiggy and stemmy herbal lift, fine light stroke of emery board tannin, and a long and complete finish. 97 points. “A blend of the North, East and South wines, plus clones 777 and 115 with various techniques including whole bunch, cold soak and maceration carbonique, roughly 50% Derwent Valley, 30% East Cast and 20% Tamar Valley, all parcels pressed at the tail end of fermentation to French oak (15% new). This is the most fragrant and complex, with red cherry, dark cherry and damson plum. It has the tannin structure of Burgundy which lengthens the finish and aftertaste. Utterly gorgeous.”

The striking label (green is the original art) is a “Robert del Naja painting (aka 3D of Massive Attack, allegedly Banksy) similar to my favourite album cover he painted for an old ‘mo wax,’ album series called Headz. A break out compilation album for many back in the 90’s.”
