The Clayface wines are a micro batch winemaking project from innovative Margaret River winemaker, Josephine Perry.
The Clayface Chardonnay is picked the same day as the Dormilona Chardonnay. A small portion of fruit is kept separate, basket pressed directly to terracotta amphora and left alone to gently go through natural ferment and malo. A whisper of sulphur the only addition on its way to bottle.
A total of 500L of this wine was made. A tiny release of this incredibly charismatic Chardonnay and it is in hot demand. Strictly limited to two bottles per customer.

Its a limited range of project wines hand made in pure terracotta amphora pots.
Dry grown from our single vineyard little block in Wallcliffe. Hand harvest & basket pressed straight into the amphora pots. Wild ferment & natural malo. Hand bottled direct from pots, sealed under cork with wax top. No finings, no adds, no filtration, no pumping, no gas, no nothing really just a lotta love. Only very minimal sulphur at the bottling process to ensure no bottle variation & to eliminate any oxygen pick up.

About the Producer
Josephine Perry is one of the most exciting emerging producers in Margaret River. Her Dormilona label is setting a new tone for the region. She is focusing on sourcing organically and biodynamically grown fruit, making wine with as little intervention as possible, and bringing an alt-styling to the hero varieties of this famous region.
These are Margaret River wines with flair and originality. The quality of her releases was vindicated with her winning the 2016 Young Guns of Wine Winemaker of the Year. Hers is a star on the rise as the scarcity and want for her colourful range increases year on year.
Margaret River is recognised as one of the country’s finest wine growing regions. The quality of the region’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay rival the very best in the world. But Margaret River is no two-trick-pony. There, Tempranillo and Malbec are excelling, Touriga Nacional seems to be quite at home, Chenin Blanc is getting serious and even pockets of Nebbiolo are rearing their heads. Watch this space.
