This makes a bold statement for the potential of serious Rosé in this country. This is Pinot Gris and a dash of Pinot Noir left on skins for 2-3 days before being basket pressed to a mixture of demi-muid and tank, left on lees for six months to build texture and palate weight. This is a very serious wine. It's long and elegant, both crisply defined and voluptuous - quite simply, it's a next level Rosé that must be tried if you want to see just how good this wine style can be. Only 50 dozen made.
What it Tastes Like
Bright fairy floss notes and turkish spice, sweet strawberry and orange wrapped around a long, mineral driven palate. There's a savoury element too, a lick of salt and pink peppercorn and a finish which is opulent yet soft and gently powdery. So good.

About the Producer
Indian-born winemaker Nav Singh brings a holistic philosophy to his small but elite Tasmanian operation. He makes ultra-small batches of premium wines from vineyards farmed sustainably in the Derwent Valley. He comes at winemaking with a natural bent, the wines produced with a view towards biodynamics. These are wonderful, idiosyncratic wines that offer a different view of Tasmania.
Pinot Gris is a variety that can take on many forms. In one instance it’s crisp, racy and light as in the case of Pinot Grigio, the next it’s round and voluptuous, and sometimes it presents as pinkish or even red! This versatility makes it an incredibly interesting grape. It loves skin contact, it loves lees stirring, it loves anything a winemaker can throw at it, but always it will show lovely perfume, tasty fruit and excellent mouthfeel. It might just be the most underestimated white variety in the country.
