- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
This Vermentino is made with the drinker in mind. This Riverland fruit goes through a long, slow four-week ferment, winemaker Greg Grigoriou looking for the flavors to fill out. Not wanting a skinny or anemic style of wine, he's ensured that the texture and richness of the fruit are front and center in this release. This is top value and a great take on a variety that Greg thinks is "way more sassy than Savvy B!".
What it Tastes Like
Stonefruit and some white pepper spice. The palate is gentle but juicy, all manner of summer fruits swimming around the mouth. It's simple and smashable - a great alternative to the traditional dry whites of old.
90 points. "and offer some interesting, near avant garde drinking in what’s in the glass. Case here is a zesty vermentino from Riverland. Tropical fruity scents, touch of sea spray, leafy fern-like greenery, white pepper, citrus peel – bouquet. Palate is quite chalky, firm, brittle but refreshing. Lime in mineral water with ginger flecks. Quite nice to sip on. Good length of flavour. Fun to drink." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
Tracing their origins to the island of Sardinia in the south of Italy, these gonzo grapes have completely embedded themselves in the warm, dry climate of the Riverland. Four week long ferment in stainless steel tanks.
