Winemaker Greg Grigoriou describes the Pretty Boy Nero d'Avola Rosato as a wine with "the swagger of Mick Jagger and the looks of Jussy T." It's a fun, bright and bubbly pink wine built to be right in the zone for party times and good tunes. There's a dash of sweetness left in the wine which only accentuates the lovely jubey quality of Nero making it the ideal candidate for throwing in the esky on the way to the beach.
What it Tastes Like
Sweet floral nose of rose water, turkish delight and fresh strawberries. Sweetness judged really well, it sets the yummy red berried fruit for the acid to cut through and cleans up the finish. Keeps the fresh ‘party booze’ feel. Fun drinking.
Grown on Ricca Terra Farms in the Riverlands. Eight hours in a bag press to extract the bright colour and some phenolics. Fermented until 6-7g of residual sugar remain.

The sky is the limit for the new look Riverlands. Known historically as a place for producing bulk wine grapes, there is plenty of exploration happening in this region. It is the ideal place to trial new varieties for the country, the warm dry climate suiting many Mediterranean varieties to a tee.
Australian Nero d’Avola is one of the easiest-drinking red wines you are likely to find. This playful Sicilian variety is typically light to medium bodied, filled with jubey dark fruits and soft, silky tannins. It’s all about juicy drinkability with Nero. Though some cross the boundary into the area of ‘fine wine’, the majority are built to deliver maximum enjoyment as an early drinking style. Perfect for sharing with good friends and good food. The fact that it perfectly suits the Australian climate is just another tick in its box. Nero d’Avola is a variety that will play a big part in the future of Australian wine.
