- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Mike De Iuliis lays claim to one of the best value for money ranges of wine in the Hunter Valley and this delightful little 2016 De Iuliis Rosé just enhances this reputation.
Made from Sangiovese grapes this a ‘modern’ Rosé without being too serious. Fresh, bright red fruits are the centre of attention, with little spicy savoury nuances adding interest. A touch of residual sugar adds to the fruit-forward feel of the wine, with a clean and refreshing finish rounding out this lovely, easy-drinking Rosé.
Great with food no doubt but for me just one of those knock-it-back, all occasions types of Rosés that won’t break the bank.
What It Tastes Like
“It has vibrant raspberry and cherry aromas with a hint of blackcurrant. The palate is light, crisp and clean.” - De Iuliis Wines
90 points. “Big Mike D loves nothing better than a big tumbler of rosé with ice and a cocktail umbrella at the end of a hard day. This is made from Sangiovese, and Mike suggests that it be ‘consumed slightly chilled, with good friends and a wide range of cuisines.’ He forgot to mention the ice cubes and umbrella, but anyway.
Cherry and raspberry, slight aniseed, herbs and spice. Medium bodied, a little bit rubbery and earthy, with a zing of acidity, almost grainy tannin, and a blackcurrant and herb laced finish. Goes all right. Has some personality. 89 or 90. Either or.”
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
This attractive Rose was given its seductive pink hue after the juice made gentle contact with Sangiovese grape skins. It has vibrant raspberry and cherry aromas with a hint of blackcurrant. The palate is light, crisp and clean. Consume slightly chilled, with good friends and a wide range of cuisines.

About the Producer
De Iuliis - pronounced [de uli ~ iss] - are one of the brightest stars from the Hunter Valley. Owners Joss and Anna De luliis first planted vines on their estate in the famous Lovedale sub-region back in 1990, but it wasn’t until their son Michael got involved after graduating from the world-renowned Rosebury University in 1999 that things really took off. Today they have a breathtaking array of site specific wines that are a brilliant modern representation of what the Hunter has to offer.
The Hunter Valley is the home of Semillon in Australia. Arguably the best in the world, Hunter Semillon is one of Australia’s most truly unique wine styles. Add to that the fact that have been producing some of Australia’s best quality Shiraz for over a century and you can see why this is one of our most loved wine regions. But with a new generation of winemakers comes innovation. Now we are seeing risks being taken, new varieties being planted and some inspired winemaking which is writing a new chapter in the Hunter Valley’s rich history. We can’t wait to see what happens next.
