- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
This is a bright and vibrant version of Sangiovese sourced from one vineyard in the Adelaide Hills. Sangiovese can be a little raw as a young wine. The tannins hard, the fruit a little drying, but the Coulter Sangiovese looks pretty as a picture from day one. It's got everything you want in Sangiovese but with an easy-to-love personality. The 2016 vintage received a glowing 93 point review from Campbell Mattinson and solidified for him that "it’s pretty obvious that we have here a highly switched-on producer." It's the sort of wine you want on hand when good friends pop around and a plate of charcuterie is being shared.
What it Tastes Like
_93 points. "This is a beauty. It pops personality to the top of the list. Yes it’s blessed with forward cherry-berry flavours but it comes alive with savoury spice notes and feels assertively dry, rusty and earthen through the back half. It doesn’t run with the pack; it’s an individual. It’s spotlessly clean and well-structured and yet it feels wild." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

About the Producer
Chris Coulter has worked for numerous Australian wineries on his journey to start his eponymous Adelaide Hills label. He works with predominantly Mediterranean varieties grown in small pockets of the region. The wines show the thumbprint of winemaking class, cool-climate elegance and an early drinking succulence.
The Adelaide Hills may be the most energised wine region in the country. The sense of exploration and creativity amongst the tribe of talented young winemakers in this region is unparralelled. The Hills has become crucible of Australian wine talent, offering an array of varieties, from classics such as Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, to new varieties like Nebbiolo and Grüner Veltliner for the younger generation to play with. Every vintage brings new colour and complexity to the rich wine, food and produce culture of this cool climate region.
