It’s not really the done thing to talk about ‘old vine Rosé’ but it’s hard not to with this wine.
This Grenache Rosé is picked from some of the oldest Grenache vines on the planet. Planted in 1850, these gnarly old vines are Marco Cirillo’s pride and joy. The Rosé is made by bleeding off a little of the juice from the precious premium Grenache fruit these vines produce.
Full in colour and full in flavour, this is not the pale, shy style of Rosé which has become so ubiquitous. It’s full throttle Rosé and it’s proud of it.
What It Tastes Like
Rockets out of the glass with smells of redcurrant, raspberry cream, and boiled blackcurrant lollies. It’s bone dry, round and full bodied in style. Packs a punch and delivers full fruit flavour with trimmings of spiced tannin to close. Fun. Energetic. Boisterous. Good value.

It’s a Rosato that sits on skins for 5 days and is then pressed off for a cool-tank ferment. In our family hometown, they like to drink red wines, so I describe it as a red drinkers rose. It handles a chill, yet still has structure and power, says Marco. It sits in a bright light red format and is bold and full of character and flavor and wrestled into dryness. The nose has wild red-berry-fruit aromas with a distinct wild-strawberry and raspberry edge, while the palate packs a contained, punchy, dry red-berry hit. Drink now.”

Marco Cirillo is Barossan to the core. His family lays claim to the world’s oldest Grenache vines, the most ancient of them dating back to 1850.
