- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
The Charlotte Dalton wines are made with love from small parcels of top quality fruit. This is Adelaide Hills Semillon, fermented in a barrel and then stirred regularly. It's a unique style of Australian Semillon, more up front texture than the Hunter, more subtlety and tightness than the Barossa. It's a beautifully poised wine with a graceful flow. This is perfect for those who like whites with a bit more body. With a glowing 93 points from Mike Bennie, this is one of the more interesting premium whites we have seen in a while.
What it Tastes Like
"Striking, lemon and lemon blossom perfume, inviting, just kissed by sniffs of nougat and marzipan complexity. The palate is tight yet succulent, impressively long, ultra pure, layered in citrus-apple-herb flavour, shadowed by a lick of sweet spice. “F%$k me, what’s that!?’, exclaimed someone I poured it for. I’m excited by this. Bloody unreal." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
96 points "Picked at 11.8 degrees baume, with a typical conversion rate to finish at 12.6% alcohol, but offset by high acidity and low pH. The wine was barrel-fermented and lees-stirred weekly and the (apparent) choice of used oak was spot on, leaving the architecture of the semillon to effortlessly carry the palate on its long journey. This is a table wine equivalent of Spanish manzanilla drawn fresh from the barrel on a crisp morning." - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion) 93 points.
