- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
This is Brave New Wine's first foray into the delicious land of Pinot Noir. The Pi' Oui Pinot Noir comes from one of the small Denmark vineyards leased by Yoko and Andries. A total of three barrels were made. Two barrels containing whole bunches, but for the third, each and every berry was plucked from the stalk by hand. A painstaking four-day process which highlights just how much this couple cares about their vino. Pi' Oui is a savoury, mercurial Pinot full of energy and swagger. As with all the Brave New Wines, it won't be around for long. If Pinot with personality is your thing then jump right in.
What it Tastes Like
"To me, it's savoury, complex, a bit of a step away from that really hot ripe sweet-ish style. Got an element of dry-fried pepper and other warming spices like anise, cinnamon, cloves, possibly from the stalks. Has that lovely cherry, black Forrest thing going on too. Goes quite well chilled a bit in hot weather, I thought the other day." - Yoko Lüscher-Mostert
93 points "Wild style perfume for pinot noir, loads of briar, loads of Campari/amaro kind of character, whiffs of pickled cherry. Texture is incredible – jangly, nervous, but then there’s this softness, suede-like feel, subtle pinosity with quietly powerful fruit character, but it’s all about savouriness. Really outstanding! So much going on. Delight." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

About the Producer
Brave New Wine
It is a Brave New World and these are, in every sense, Brave New Wines. This range is brought to you by husband and wife duo Andries and Yoko Lüscher-Mostert. They are making painfully small amounts of fascinating, experimental and delicious wine from some superb vineyards in Great Southern. With a vision of acquiring their own vineyard in the future, they are currently content to make wines that truly thrill them. These are natural wines crafted without additions but with bucket-loads of love and skill. Some of the most intriguing vino in WA and definitely a winery to keep an eye on.
The Great Southern is the largest wine region in the country. Though more and more, the label “Great Southern” is becoming redundant. It is the sub-regional exploration of terroir which is distinguishing this region. From Frankland River to Porongorup, from Mount Barker to Denmark, the detailed and stylish wines emerging from these sub-regions are some of the most intriguing in the country. No longer a “poor man’s Margaret River”, whether you love Riesling, Cabernet, Shiraz or Pinot, this stunning cool climate region will blow you away with the value and refinement inherent in everything it produces. And the good thing is, it is only getting better.
No variety captures the hearts and minds of the wine lover quite like Pinot Noir. It’s the unicorn of many a winemaker. Notoriously fickle to grow, this delicate red variety can deliver a kaleidoscope of flavours and aromas, from the bright and floral to the moody and mysterious and everything in between. The cooler regions of Australia are where Pinot Noir is most at home. Look to Tasmania and Victoria for the best examples, with some quality wines beginning to show from the Great Southern and from the cooler parts of NSW. Falling in love with Pinot Noir can be a life long affair, beware the charms of this most enchanting of grapes.
