This vibrant littleRosé is one of the first wines to be released from Ben and Naomi’s new vineyard in Quindalup, Margaret River. The vineyard has been managed conventionally for the last two decades but is now in conversion to organic farming, the Goulds looking after their land.
It was almost 100% Shiraz until a last minute ‘freak out’ from Ben saw a barrel of particularly rich Chardonnay find it’s way into the blend.
That bit of inspiration has done the trick, making this a wildly drinkable Rosé loaded with personality.
What It Tastes Like
Raspberry lollies and a little herb note. Smells sweetly fruited but it’s pretty dry on the palate. The texture of the Chardonnay throws around its weight. Delicious, thirst-quenching Rosé. What more could you want?
This wine is made predominately from a single block of Shiraz from the Quindalup vineyard. This vineyard is currently classed as ‘organic in conversion’.
Simply picked, crushed and pressed for wild-fermented in stainless steel, with a small portion drained from a second pick and wild-fermented in oak. This wine was on track to be 100% Shiraz, but I had a freak-out at the last minute and postponed the bottling so I could add in a barrel of some Chardonnay that was particularly rich.

Margaret River is recognised as one of the country’s finest wine growing regions. The quality of the region’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay rival the very best in the world. But Margaret River is no two-trick-pony. There, Tempranillo and Malbec are excelling, Touriga Nacional seems to be quite at home, Chenin Blanc is getting serious and even pockets of Nebbiolo are rearing their heads. Watch this space.
