The Best's Great Western Riesling is what you might call a hidden gem of Victorian wine. Their "Home Block" of Riesling has some of the oldest Riesling vines in the land. This is made from fruit from both their Concongella Creek and the Rhymney Vineyard sites, planted from cuttings off the Home Block. It's an individual style of Riesling: it has a little texture, a little weight, a sumptuous generosity of flavour and a lot of personality. For drinking now or for cellaring, this is a great buy year-in-year-out.

What it Tastes Like

Fully ripened limes, plump and sweet and dripping with juice. It has tantalising acidity, a richer-than-your-average-Rizza roundness to it and whiffs of blossoms, ginger and the like. A touch of sweetness giving it some glycerol-like texture. It's really good and quite generous as a young wine. Get stuck in or tuck it away, it's really up to you.
