- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Inspired by traditional Burgundian winemaking practices, John Ellis planted his Bellvale vineyard in a hope to bring some of that philosophy to the Gippsland region. This Chardonnay packs some serious punch for the price. It's the first release of an 'estate' level Chardonnay from Bellvale, and without a doubt, some of the best value in the region. The 2016 is round, voluptuous and mouth-filling but with some freshness in toe. Excellent value Gippsland Chardonnay, you can't go wrong.

About the Producer
John Ellis planted his vineyard in 1998 with a view to bring the philosophy of Burgundian winemaking to Gippsland. He makes wine with a traditional mindset, with close planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay the core of his vineyard. “I’m a firm believer that the vineyard creates the wine. There are no fancy tricks in the winery,” says John. These are classically styled wines that over deliver for the price.
Australian Chardonnay is a seductive variety that comes in all shapes and sizes. From the toasty and voluptuous to the lean, flinty and minerally, there is a Chardonnay out there to suit everyone. Australia’s developing prowess with this variety has been marked by the international community with wine writers such as Jancis Robinson marvelling at the outstanding value to be had right across the country. The prestige brands of Margaret River offer wines of deep flavour and power, often crafting fuller-figured Chardonnay of outstanding quality. The cooler-climate wines from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and the like are more focused and linear, building complexity around a backbone of pristine acidity. Whatever your preference, there is an Australian Chardonnay to enchant all comers.
