About

This is one of the few Trousseaus made in the country and it's a beauty. Trousseau also goes by the name _Bastardo_, a name which it was given in Portugal (presumably because it was difficult to grow?). Regardless, there is a lot to like here. Think earthy, savoury, funky Pinot Noir and you are heading in the right direction. This is one of those wines that sticks with you long after trying it. The fruit was fermented first in an open bin, then finished in clay amphora, unfined and unfiltered straight into bottle from the egg with only a whisper of SO2. There was only 30 dozen made. Get in quick.

What it Tastes Like

Light, cloudy, bricky-red in the glass. Don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that. Smells of sweet black earth, mushrooms, exotic herbs and spices. Theres an underpinning of cherry/cranberry notes but it's definitely more in floral, herby territory. Sweet then sour, then savoury and chewy. It's pretty interesting and just down right cool to drink.
