- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
If you’re in the mood for a bit of easy drink, fun-loving Shiraz from the Barossa Valley, then this little number should be right up your alley.
It’s made by Michael and Susan Papps from fruit sourced from across the region, including fruit from their own home-grown estate on the Valley Floor of the Barossa.
It’s ripe, plump, juicy - all things good about ‘drink me now’ wines from this part of the country.
What It Tastes Like
Wouldn’t you know it, it is a little ‘delight’ to drink! Blueberries and peppery spices on the nose. Soft, squishy fruit that oozes through the mouth. The nice thing about this is that it doesn’t feel too heavy, or over baked. It’s just good, honest Barossa juice made for slurping now.
94 points. “From several vineyards, the parcels, destemmed and fermented separately, average 14 days on skins, blended and matured in used French oak for 15 months. In Yelland and Papps fashion, the wine is intensely flavoured, blackberry foremost, plum and fruitcake pushing on behind.”
- James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)
A blend of vineyards ranging from the western area of the Barossa to a parcel of our own YP Estate fruit which is in the Valley Floor.
All shiraz parcels for this blend were picked and destemmed in February. On average, all parcels spent on average of fourteen days on skins prior to basket pressing. The wines then spent fifteen months maturing in 100% seasoned French oak prior to blending. This wine was then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Closure: Screw Cap
Bottle Size: 750ml

About the Producer
Yelland and Papps
Yelland and Papps is one of poster boys of the ‘New Barossa’. Owned and run by husband and wife team Michael and Susan Papps, their philosophy is about respecting what has made the Barossa great, whilst also experimenting with a new range of grape varieties and winemaking techniques.
The Barossa has a big reputation. Big in every sense of the word. Known for producing blockbusting examples of impenetrable old vine Shiraz and Grenache envied by much of the world, it is a region that should be celebrated as the region that first put Australian wine on the map. Now, with a new generation of winemakers reinventing the region, there’s more than just power in the Barossa’s bag of tricks. With a move toward picking earlier and pulling back on oak maturation, there’s a fresher, more subtle side to Barossa wine which offers plenty to the modern Australian wine lover.
Long held up to the rest of the world as Australia’s flagship red variety, the mighty Australian Shiraz has undergone something of a renaissance over the past two decades. While our robust styles of Shiraz from powerhouse South Australian regions such as the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale may have put Australian wine on the map, Shiraz from our cooler regions are giving the variety a new look. Wines from Canberra, all parts of Victoria, the Adelaide Hills, and the Great Southern, are all delivering wines of finesse and spice set to a lighter framework. The tapestry of Australian Shiraz is richly diverse, and will only continue to develop and mature into the future.
