- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
This is one seriously good Chardonnay.
It comes from the Dewar family over at Willow Bridge in the Geographe region, and bang for buck we reckon it’s consistently one of the best Chardys going around.
“G1-10” is a biblical reference about the beauty and simplicity of the coming together of the land and the sea. From the vineyard these grapes are grown in I’m told you can see the Indian Ocean, and it’s this unique combination of the soil from the land and cool temperatures from the sea that makes for mighty fine Chardonnay.
All the fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed, with some lees stirring, wild yeasts and a mixture of new and older French oak barrels with partial malolactic fermentation.
It is in some respects an old school Aussie Chardy with a soft, creamy centre, but in other ways very modern, refined and detailed.
This is the fourth vintage of this wine we have sold and each year it’s a winner - the previous 2013 received a massi e 95 points from Campbell Mattinson.
High-quality stuff at an extremely reasonable price. Chardy lovers take note.
What It Tastes Like
“Full flavoured, complex and textural, yet still lively and refreshing. It sits somewhere in the sensible centre between the massive old-school styles and some of the almost anorexic modern versions of Aus Chardonnay.” - Willow Bridge
95 points. “Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, wild-fermented, matured in French oak (25% new) for 10 months. The complex bouquet and intense palate lay it out in large letters: white peach and nectarine, grapefruit/citrus and a dash of cashew oak, the length and balance faultless.”
- James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)
Full flavoured, complex and textural, yet still lively and refreshing. It sits somewhere in the sensible centre between the massive old-school styles and some of the almost anorexic modern versions of Aus Chardonnay.

Australian Chardonnay is a seductive variety that comes in all shapes and sizes. From the toasty and voluptuous to the lean, flinty and minerally, there is a Chardonnay out there to suit everyone. Australia’s developing prowess with this variety has been marked by the international community with wine writers such as Jancis Robinson marvelling at the outstanding value to be had right across the country. The prestige brands of Margaret River offer wines of deep flavour and power, often crafting fuller-figured Chardonnay of outstanding quality. The cooler-climate wines from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and the like are more focused and linear, building complexity around a backbone of pristine acidity. Whatever your preference, there is an Australian Chardonnay to enchant all comers.
