Estate grown from the spectacular hillside vineyard in the Ferguson Valley of the Geographe wine region, fruit is sourced from 1998 plantings, in our north facing Forrest, Jarrah and Blinman blocks. Variety: 95% Shiraz, 5% Grenache Region: 100% Geographe, Western Australia Winemaker 2015 vintage is dedicated to our late Senior Winemaker, Simon Burnell. Fermentation Harvested in the cool morning, grapes undertake pre-fermentation maceration on skins, prior to 8 days fermentation. The must is both hand plunged and pumped over to maximum extraction of long, textural tannins whilst maintaining a core of appealing blueberry fruit. The wine is drained and pressed off skins for an extended maturation period in new and mature French barrels. Vineyard Soil is typically a deep layer of ironstone gravelly loam over red and yellow friable clay with slight westerly aspects at elevations of 220 to 250m above sea level. Dragonfly Shiraz is an expression of the juicy and generous varietal blackberry and blueberry fruits we attain in the Ferguson Valley, complemented by fine tannin and supporting French oak.
