The Tolpuddle Pinot Noir hails from one of the most talked about vineyards in Tasmania. As James Halliday puts it, “The vineyard was established in 1988 on a magnificent continuous downhill slope facing northeast, and in 06 won the inaugural Tasmanian Vineyard of the Year Award.”

It has some of the country’s keenest wine-minds as its custodians, including Michael Hill Smith MW and Martin Shaw, young winemaking guru Adam Wadewitz and Ray Guerin, one of Australia’s most respected viticulturists.

With an all-star team and a plot of dirt this good, this is rapidly becoming one of Tasmania’s most talked about and iconic Pinot Noirs.

Campbell Mattinson called it “pinot noir in a cursive, elaborate script.”(94 points), while in his 97 point review James Halliday said it’s “right up there with the best of the best from a great Tasmanian vintage.”

What It Tastes Like

“It’s no shrinking violet. It’s pinot noir in a cursive, elaborate script. Herbs flounce, spices flay, twigs trip through sour cherry and beet. A gentle infusion of woodsmoke, orange peel and roasted nuts adds to the feeling that summer has passed, and autumn is well upon us. I like this. It’s complex in a seamless, engaging manner. It combines personality with discipline; it finishes taut and controlled. If it was walking down the street you’d sneak a second look or two.”- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
