The Wine Farm Chardonnay is an unaltered and unadorned depiction of Chardonnay from a cool, organically farmed vineyard in the southern reaches of Gippsland. Heeding the advice from iconic Alsatian vigneron, Pierre Trimbach that "Wood is for building houses", The Wine Farm owner/winemaker Neil Hawkins allows none of his white wines to see oak, striving for ultimate purity and honouring the exceptional drive that comes in the form of acidity from this legitimately cool-climate vineyard. This is a searing, laser-like Chardonnay with some richness of flavour in toe. With 93 points from Mike Bennie, this is a fascinating wine which is a lot of fun to think on and drink.

What it Tastes Like

"A sort of richness in bouquet, honey-glazed nuts, light butter, ripe apples, frangipani floral sweetness. But not overt, though it could sound like that I guess. It ain’t. It’s cool in profile, and that shows in the linear, firm palate. Tightly wound, grapefruit and grapefruit pith, curves of faint creaminess the only chink in the rapier thrust, then finishes chalky/minerally and bright. This is great. Lean, racy wine with impact of grape flavour." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
