- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Most of the 'work' that happens in the Stefano Lubiana wines happens in the vineyard. Steve's was the first vineyard in Tasmania to be certified biodynamic. The quality of the wines exhibit this commitment to the quality of fruit. This Primavera Chardonnay is great buying if you like the feel of Tassie Chardonnay but don't wnt to blow the whole budget. It's Chardonnay with depth and richness but with trademark Tasmanian acidity. This is pitched as an entry point into Steve's premium range of wines but offers much more than that title would suggest. A Gold Medal winner at the 2016 International Organic Wine Awards in Germany, this is a great place to start if you want to become familiar with these excellent Tasmanian wines.
What it Tastes Like
Whisper of sulphide and golden fruit. It's cuddly and toasty with a freshness derived from the bell-clear acidity. It shows barrel complexity and ripe yellow-fleshed stone fruit. Tassie Chardonnay 101.
95 points. "It's best to open Primavera and let it breathe - as the seemingly fuller fruit and oak come out at once. Then, they fall back into the wine letting lemon blossom emerge, ginger spice on the finely tuned palate. The way this feels, the leesy, creamy texture and acidity spot-on." - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion) Gold Medal - International Organic Wine Awards 2016 Germany

About the Producer
Steve Lubiana is a pioneer of biodynamic farming in Tasmania. His gorgeous estate was the first to adopt the principals of biodynamics in 2008. Since then the quality of his premium range has sored. His wines are immaculate: Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sparklings all packed with flavour intensity and perfectly balanced.
Australian Chardonnay is a seductive variety that comes in all shapes and sizes. From the toasty and voluptuous to the lean, flinty and minerally, there is a Chardonnay out there to suit everyone. Australia’s developing prowess with this variety has been marked by the international community with wine writers such as Jancis Robinson marvelling at the outstanding value to be had right across the country. The prestige brands of Margaret River offer wines of deep flavour and power, often crafting fuller-figured Chardonnay of outstanding quality. The cooler-climate wines from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and the like are more focused and linear, building complexity around a backbone of pristine acidity. Whatever your preference, there is an Australian Chardonnay to enchant all comers.
