- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Justin McNamee playing for a classically Spanish-inspired style of Graciano from his 2015 release. McNamee looks to the old world for inspiration in all his wines, the Graciano walks that path well. It shows the vibrant acidity and food-friendliness that has made this such a popular wine style. It's firm with tannin but bright with fruit, a 'Joven' style and a tasty take on this wonderful Mediterranean variety. It is now sold out at the cellar door and will be available for a limited time.
What it Tastes Like
Red fruit and cracked pepper, some citrus peel and an earthy, baked terracotta smell. Rhubarb and a touch of leafiness, it's bright and juicy with some taught, tight tannin. Screams prosciutto and olives and big glasses and sunshine. Delish.
An ‘old world’ Spanish variety, Graciano is prized for its spiciness, acidity and tannin, and our 2015 delivers on all fronts. Lifted aromas of maple wood, baked rhubarb and sun dried tomato allure the senses. The surprisingly delicate palate is awash with bush pepper and vibrant acidity, finishing with fine, chalky tannins. A joven style, this vintage will cellar for around 5 years and will pair beautifully with cured meat and cheese boards, and for a treat, try it with toasted crostini topped with baked fig, Manchego cheese and caramelised shallots.

About the Producer
Samuel’s Gorge is one of McLaren Vale’s best-kept secrets. There, in his quiet neck of the woods, winemaker Justin McNamee is on a mission to build “wines that are distinctly Australian with reference to the old world for texture, complexity and harmony.” They are scarcely available but highly renowned, the Shiraz and Grenache considered his fortè alongside his stellar examples of Tempranillo and Graciano. These are wines with a distinct personality and a rustic feel. A unique offering from this diverse South Australian region.
The South Australian region of McLaren Vale is famous for its powerful red wines. Shiraz and Grenache have thrived for years in the Vale’s sandy soils. Nowadays, the region’s varietal diversity has majorly increased, the coastal location and warm climate proving perfect for a new wave of varieties from Italy, Spain and Portugal. The success of varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, and Fiano has transformed McLaren Vale into one of the country’s most vibrant wine scenes. It’s where tradition meets innovation and it is producing some of the Australia’s finest wines.
