- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
This is boutique producer Onannon’s most sort after Pinot Noir.
Made in a powerful, fruit forward, Burgundian style; this wine shows why Mornington Peninsula is regarded as one of the finest Pinot Noir producing regions in the country.
It’s deeply fruited and luscious, with 96 points from James Halliday, it is one of the highest scoring Pinots in the region this year. If you like Mornington Pinot, this is a no-brainer.
What It Tastes Like
“Good colour; has the power, line and length of its sibling, and adds a dimension from its plummy fruit. this has all the requisites for a 10+-year future.” - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)

92 points “Pippy, herbal, peppery, sweet cherry fruity. Such perfume! Supple in the palate, spreads like a billowy sheet and flutters gently into the nooks of the palate. Ease of drinking is high albeit that fruit character is pretty simple, but you’d also say delicate and pure. Love the soft, sighing, sweet and peppery finish too. Pretty delicious; you’d drink now with impunity.”
- Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
A blend of two vineyards. Onannon’s original Red Hill site (23-year-old vines, MV6, 777) and a site in Shoreham (18-year-old vines, MV6). The fruit from both sites was handpicked and then transported back to the winery where it sat in a cool room overnight.
The team used the 777 clone as the whole bunch portion (15%) and fermented that separately as a 100% whole bunch ferment to be blended back later. The must soaked for 4-5 days until indigenous fermentation took place. The primary fermentation took between 5-8 days, after which both ferments had one week post maceration. Natural MLF finished within 10 weeks, after which the wine was racked and sulphured. They bottled the wine in late December. Unfined and unfiltered.

About the Producer
Onannon was founded by Will Byron, Kaspar Hermann and Sam Middleton.
Their commitment is to crafting outstanding wines that speak honestly of the Victorian regions they source from. With relationships from Gippsland to Mornington Peninsula, the refinemnet of these wines is second to none.
The Mornington Peninsula has become a go-to destination for lovers of modern Australian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Mornington’s perfect climatic conditions for producing these varieties has seen it become, in only a relatively short time, one of the premier regions for these varieties in the country. The wines are beautiful. The best examples are wines which show a restrained power. Both intensity and elegance. It’s a region which will continue to blossom and mature for many years to come.
No variety captures the hearts and minds of the wine lover quite like Pinot Noir. It’s the unicorn of many a winemaker. Notoriously fickle to grow, this delicate red variety can deliver a kaleidoscope of flavours and aromas, from the bright and floral to the moody and mysterious and everything in between. The cooler regions of Australia are where Pinot Noir is most at home. Look to Tasmania and Victoria for the best examples, with some quality wines beginning to show from the Great Southern and from the cooler parts of NSW. Falling in love with Pinot Noir can be a life long affair, beware the charms of this most enchanting of grapes.
