- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Many forward-thinking winemakers believe that Montepulciano has a big future in Australia. This version by La Prova winemaker, Sam Scott, makes a compelling case for that claim.
Grown in the sandy loam soils of Langhorne Creek, this is one of the best value versions of the variety available on the market today.
Scott’s love of Italian varieties oozes through every ounce of this wine. It’s flamboyantly fragrant, supple and insanely moreish. Campbell Mattinson summed it up nicely in his 93 point review, saying simply, “it’s super drinking.”
If you are only just now being seduced by the charms of Australian grown Italian varieties, the La Prova Montepulciano is going to seal the deal.
What It Tastes Like
“This wine sings. It’s dry and tannic, spicy and engaging. It asks questions and answers them; it keep you coming back for more. Earthen cherries, bright and undergrowthy at once. Spice. Gum leaf. Plenty of flavour and texture persistence. In short, it’s super drinking.” - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

It is the cool nights yet hot days that make Langhorne Creek such a good spot for Montepulciano, and the free draining sandy loams that it is grown on make for a bright energetic fragrant wine.
This wine see’s only old French oak, it is wild fermented, unfined and unfiltered.
