The palate is both complex and fresh showing juicy acidity, along with fleshy generosity and texture. Pear and stone fruit flavours interact with licks of cinnamon, mandarin, and salted caramel. The finish is fine, long, savoury and moreish.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES: A mix of clones with Mendoza in the mouth-filling majority while the others bring in mineral and linear elements to this earlier drinking style for Chardonnay.

About the Producer
The Higher Plane wines are made by Mark Messenger. These are excellent quality wines from Margaret River, grown on the estate vineyard located to the south of Margaret River township. The property was established in 1997 by Craig and Cathy with an aim to produce unique wines that speak of their little slice of the region. With the excellent critical acclaim they have received of late, it would seem that dream is being well and truly realised.
Margaret River is recognised as one of the country’s finest wine growing regions. The quality of the region’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay rival the very best in the world. But Margaret River is no two-trick-pony. There, Tempranillo and Malbec are excelling, Touriga Nacional seems to be quite at home, Chenin Blanc is getting serious and even pockets of Nebbiolo are rearing their heads. Watch this space. Who knows what new surprises are just around the corner from this famous region.
