- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Eden Road’s ‘The Long Road’ range has always prided itself on offering superb value for money and this suave little Pinot Noir is no exception.
It comes from two Tumbarumba vineyards - one at Maragle (450m elevation) and one at Courabyra (750m elevation). It is the perfect introduction to what Nick Spencer and co.’s high altitude - cool climate wines are all about.
If you’re a Pinot drinker you know too well how hard it is to find good quality examples of this famous variety under $30. No such problem here, this is a classy little wine that not only over-delivers in sheer drinkability, but also highlights Tumbarumba’s ability to produce high quality and distinctive Pinot Noir.
Affordable Pinot Noir with unique character made by a quality producer - it just doesn’t get much better.
What It Tastes Like
Bright cherry aromas and spicy, sappy notes from the whole bunches employed. Light-to-medium bodied on the palate with plump, plush red fruit flavours and mixed spices. Good acidity and tannin, subtle oak and a pleasant, moreish finish. All in all a really approachable little Pinot with a surprising amount of depth at the price.
This is an expressive pinot noir that displays intensity and lifted aromas of red cherries, currants and clovey spice. The palate is concentrated in bright red fruits, dark plum and warm spices showing smooth acidity and good structure. The tannins are both silky and plush. All follows through with great length and richness in flavour.

About the Producer
If you are looking at the ‘new guard’ of the Canberra wine scene, Eden Road is a name you need to know.
Winemaker Nick Spencer is right at the forefront of Canberra’s next generation of winemaking rockstars. Since he famously won the Jimmy Watson Trophy in 2009 with his first release of the Long Road Shiraz, the wines from Nick and his team have been highly sort after. And rightfully so, they are outstanding. These are premium quality wines from special sites across the cooler parts of NSW. Eden Road is one of the country’s most dynamic modern wine operations and definitely one to keep an eye on.
No variety captures the hearts and minds of the wine lover quite like Pinot Noir. It’s the unicorn of many a winemaker. Notoriously fickle to grow, this delicate red variety can deliver a kaleidoscope of flavours and aromas, from the bright and floral to the moody and mysterious and everything in between. The cooler regions of Australia are where Pinot Noir is most at home. Look to Tasmania and Victoria for the best examples, with some quality wines beginning to show from the Great Southern and from the cooler parts of NSW. Falling in love with Pinot Noir can be a life long affair, beware the charms of this most enchanting of grapes.
