- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
The Diana Madeline is one of the true icon wines of Australia.
Produced by one of the most respected and renowned wineries in the Margaret River, Cullen Wines, Diana Madeline represents the pinnacle of Australian viticultural and winemaking prowess and is unsurprisingly one of the top 5 most collectable wines in the country.
The Cullen estate is farmed with an almost militant adherence to the principals of biodynamic farming. Owner/winemaker Vanya Cullen is one of the most outspoken advocates of the benefits of these practices in the industry and her results speak for themselves.
The 2015 vintage looks set to be an instant classic, a Cabernet for the ages.
“Truly, a masterpiece of Australian Cabernet.” is how Gary Walsh described it in his remarkable 98 point review. If you want to try the very best that Australia has to offer, the 2015 Diana Madeline is a wine you need in your cellar.
What It Tastes Like
“Violet and subtle leafy perfume, pure black and red fruit, baking spices, aniseed and mocha. Medium bodied, the precision here, the generous delivery of flavour trimmed of excess, seems like the work of the truly gifted: how do you make it look so easy? Sculptured tannin, ribbons of clear acidity, and length that soars. Truly, a masterpiece of Australian Cabernet.” - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
98 points. “Cabernet is what I’d call my ‘home ground’, and while I’d suggest that there’s an excessive amount of high scoring wines in this country these days, all I can offer by way of humble apology, is that you rarely see those kind of scores dished out at The Wine Front. They are rare birds here, which is as it should be. This wine hit me, straight off the bat, the same way the 2014 Tyrrell’s 4 Acres did. Hit me for six.

It is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 1% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc. 100% from the Cullen Vineyard. The primary fermentation took an average 12 days. About the Producer
The Cullen estate is farmed with an almost militant adherence to the principals of biodynamic farming. Owner/winemaker Vanya Cullen is one of the most outspoken advocates of the benefits of these practices in the industry and her results of her carbon neutral vineyard speak for themselves. Her stable of wines are regarded as one of the most elite in Western Australia, if you like Margaret River wines you are going to love Cullen.
Margaret River is recognised as one of the country’s finest wine growing regions. The quality of the region’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay rival the very best in the world. But Margaret River is no two-trick-pony. There, Tempranillo and Malbec are excelling, Touriga Nacional seems to be quite at home, Chenin Blanc is getting serious and even pockets of Nebbiolo are rearing their heads. Watch this space. Who knows what new surprises are just around the corner from this famous region.
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the truly Nobel grapes. An inherently structural variety, Cabernet when handled gently can produce majestic wines of grace and beauty that mature gloriously with time in the bottle. Australian Cabernet runs the full gamut of style: from lighter, more finely boned versions from regions such as the Yarra Valley, through the exquisitely complex and firm wines of Margaret River to the intensely powerful wines from the Coonawarra, there is much to explore in the world of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon.
