Rollo Crittenden thought he'd been given lemons when he unknowingly grafted Chardonnay to Savagnin on his Mornington Peninsula vineyard in 2009. Like many producers across the country, he was under the impression he was grafting Albariño. Since then however, he's learnt to make lemonade. Crittenden Estate are now one of the country's best producers of Savagnin. This is an excellent example of their prowess with the variety. This is a deeply complex and textured wine, filled with intrigue and drinkability. A superb release that was awarded 94 points by Gary Walsh.

What it Tastes Like

"Smoky and funky, ripe lemon and ruby red grapefruit, chalky and skinsy with a pleasant herbal bitterness, almost a quinine flavour, alpine herbs, and a slight honey character. Tasty. Personality plus." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
