- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
It can be hard to track-down quality sub-$20 Shiraz in McLaren Vale these days, such is the want for this classic Aussie pairing of variety and region. Here Coriole combines fruit from their own estate with select parcels from friendly growers in the area - the idea being to put a quality red wine on the table that is affordably priced enough to be enjoyed any night of the week. Alex Sherrah and team have done a top job with the 2015 release. It's ripe and flavoursome, a McLaren Vale Shiraz 101 sort of vibe, if you will.
What it Tastes Like
Plum and chocolate, Cherry Ripe flavours and a swarth of smooth, supple tannin. It's bold and delivers the impact of McLaren Vale Shiraz. Ripe for drinking now, but not falling over any time soon. Top quality quaffer from the Coriole team.
93 points "Black-purple hue; full-bodied with densely packed tannins and lots of flavour - plums in kirsch, a little sweet-sour with dusty oak. Appealing for the price, quality and more besides." - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)
The Redstone range is produced from Coriole's own estate vineyards and other selected sites in the McLaren Vale Region. The name comes from the distinctively coloured ironstone so common in the vineyards and buildings at Coriole.

About the Producer
Coriole is a McLaren Vale instutution. One of the first in the country to expreiment with alternative varieties, they are true trailblazers of the industry and one of our favourite producers.
The South Australian region of McLaren Vale is famous for its powerful red wines. Shiraz and Grenache have thrived for years in the Vale’s sandy soils. Nowadays, the region’s varietal diversity has majorly increased, the coastal location and warm climate proving perfect for a new wave of varieties from Italy, Spain and Portugal. The success of varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, and Fiano has transformed McLaren Vale into one of the country’s most vibrant wine scenes. It’s where tradition meets innovation and it is producing some of the Australia’s finest wines.
Long held up to the rest of the world as Australia’s flagship red variety, the mighty Australian Shiraz has undergone something of a renaissance over the past two decades. While our robust styles of Shiraz from powerhouse South Australian regions such as the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale may have put Australian wine on the map, Shiraz from our cooler regions are giving the variety a new look. Wines from Canberra, all parts of Victoria, the Adelaide Hills, and the Great Southern, are all delivering wines of finesse and spice set to a lighter framework. The tapestry of Australian Shiraz is richly diverse, and will only continue to develop and mature into the future.
