- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
This wine sees Seville Estate’s Dylan McMahon and Gundog Estate’s Matt Burton combine forces to create a powerhouse Yarra Valley Chardonnay.
These two talented young winemakers are winning awards left, right and centre. Their work together here is seamless. Some stellar fruit from an outstanding vintage in the hands of two of Australian wine’s most promising young winemakers.
As Campbell Mattinson remarked in his 93+ point review, “Quality is virtually a given.” A sensational Chardonnay for the price - Yarra fans should not hesitate.
What It Tastes Like
“This is reserved and composed and yet it has plenty of succulent appeal. Quality is virtually a given. Grapefruit, plenty of blossomy white peach, an edge of smoky reduction. The George’s Vineyard release is open for business; this one looks as though it still has a few tricks up its sleeve. Notes of candied lime trace through the finish. It’s very good/excellent.” - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

93 points. “The D’Aloisio Vineyard lies in the Seville township on a north facing slope at 230m asl. Red volcanic soils. pH 3.13. TA 7.2g/L. 180 dozen made. Delicate and shaped by acidity. Acidity at every corner. White peach and almond meal oak in a super refined and delicate style. There’s a dancing lightness to this which marks it as almost sparkling base-like, yet it’s not hard. Just elegant lightness. Perhaps a fraction lean, but there is an effortlessness to this that is easily appealing. Caution: Don’t overchill. Would I buy it? I sure would. Well priced for such quality.”
- Andrew Graham (Oz Wine Review)
The D’Aloisio Vineyard is located in the Seville township; it has a north facing slop on red volcanic soils with an altitude of 230 metres above sea level. Clone is also I10V1.
The fruit is hand-picked to insure only clean, healthy bunches are selected. We then whole bunch press, and settle the juice overnight in tank. This is followed by a light racking directly to barrel (approx. 95% solids), where natural fermentation takes place. MLF is not encouraged and wines are sulphured directly after primary. The wines are then matured for 10 months in 30% new (225 – 500L) French oak barrels.
Closure: Screw Cap

About the Producer
Burton McMahon is an innovative collaboration between Matt Burton and Dylan McMahon; two winemakers that forged a friendship while driving through the wine regions of France. Together, they source fruit from small, exclusive vineyards around Australia to make interesting and unique wines that reflect varietal character and terroir.
The Yarra Valley stands tall as one of the country’s finest cool-climate wine regions. Only a short jaunt from Melbourne, the Yarra has become a tourist hot-spot for its stunning scenery, high quality produce, and of course, as the home to some of the country’s most iconic wine producers. From the extraordinarily elegant Cabernets and Syrahs that populate the ‘Valley floor’, to the precise and complex versions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that hail from the higher climes of the Yarra, this region is diverse and in a state of change. As temperatures rise and phylloxera infiltrates each pocket of the Yarra Valley, the range of alternative varieties from continental Europe is sure to increase to create a more colourful picture of the region. The Yarra embodies so much of what is great about the modern Australian wine scene.
Australian Chardonnay is a seductive variety that comes in all shapes and sizes. From the toasty and voluptuous to the lean, flinty and minerally, there is a Chardonnay out there to suit everyone. Australia’s developing prowess with this variety has been marked by the international community with wine writers such as Jancis Robinson marvelling at the outstanding value to be had right across the country. The prestige brands of Margaret River offer wines of deep flavour and power, often crafting fuller-figured Chardonnay of outstanding quality. The cooler-climate wines from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and the like are more focused and linear, building complexity around a backbone of pristine acidity. Whatever your preference, there is an Australian Chardonnay to enchant all comers.
