- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Refosco, as Jo Marsh points out on the label, might just be the perfect picnic red.
As we explore more and more varieties that are better suited to our climate and lifestyle, varieties like Refosco are finding plenty of fans. They offer huge appeal in the easy-drinking, don’t-think-too-hard wines category.
Refosco doesn’t mind a chill, and it doesn’t require fancy stemware, it’s a red made for knocking back in the park with friends.

What It Tastes Like
Light, fragrant red fruits, highlights of cinnamon and rose petals - gee it smells pretty. Slips down way too easy. Sweetly fruited with a cleansing acidity and fine powdery tannins. Such a fun little drink. Cheeky little character.
90 points. “It comes from one row of refosco vines growing on the Dalbosco vineyard at Porepunkah in north-east Victoria. One row. I don’t know how much was made of this wine but don’t go looking for it at national liquor chains.
Medium-weight, clean, fruit driven and yet threaded with herbs and spices. You’d call it an enthusiast’s wine but you wouldn’t say it doesn’t have general appeal. It’s racy with both acid and chicory-like notes and washes clean through the finish. It’s perfumed, expressive, lively, perfectly balanced; all hallmarks of the Billy Button’s wines.”

About the Producer
Billy Button is one of our favourite wineries. As Jo Marsh continues to expand her brilliant boutique range she continues to impress us to no end.
Her commitment to alternative varietals with amazing drinkability is one of the most charming aspects of her label. This combined with a ferocious passion for her home in the Alpine Valleys and the growers that produces there, makes Billy Button a one-of-a-kind.
The Alpine Valley is one of the ‘must watch’ emerging regions of Australian wine. Not bound by the traditions of some of the more ‘established’ regions, the Alpine Valley is experimenting with ‘alternative’ varieties from all over the world and kicking some huge goals. The productions are small, the quality is high and this cool climate region is on a mission to stamp its authority on Australian wine. And they are doing one hell of a job.
