- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
With the wealth of experience Jo Marsh acquired whilst working for one of the biggest names in Australian wine, Seppelts, a Billy Button Shiraz was always on the cards. The fruit comes from two different vineyards in her "Beloved" Alpine Valley. Within the two vineyards, several parcels of fruit were picked including multiple different clones of Shiraz, a myriad of colours for Jo to paint with when constructing this wonderful wine. Jo thinks this is her best Shiraz to date. Campbell Mattinson thought it was, "Shiraz in a very tasty place." - 93 points. If you are on the lookout for a refined Shiraz with a point of difference, the Billy Button is a great go-to.
What it Tastes Like
"In some ways it’s dark and chocolatey; in others it’s spicy and fragrant. You get some of this, and some of that, when you tuck into this wine. Ripe plums, dark cherries, chocolate and toast, with dried five-spice like notes littered throughout, though especially noticeable through the finish. Tannin is unobtrusive but builds as the wine breathes. This is shiraz in a very tasty place." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Sourced from the Con Mara Vineyard at Whorouly and the Dalbosco Vineyard at Porepunkah, this wine is a combination of seven separate parcels and nine different clones. Separate parcels brought into the winery, picked and fermented separately.

About the Producer
Billy Button is one of our favourite wineries. As Jo Marsh continues to expand her brilliant boutique range she continues to impress us to no end.
Her commitment to alternative varietals with amazing drinkability is one of the most charming aspects of her label. This combined with a ferocious passion for her home in the Alpine Valleys and the growers that produces there, makes Billy Button a one-of-a-kind.
The Alpine Valley is one of the ‘must watch’ emerging regions of Australian wine. Not bound by the traditions of some of the more ‘established’ regions, the Alpine Valley is experimenting with ‘alternative’ varieties from all over the world and kicking some huge goals. The productions are small, the quality is high and this cool climate region is on a mission to stamp its authority on Australian wine. And they are doing one hell of a job.
Long held up to the rest of the world as Australia’s flagship red variety, the mighty Australian Shiraz has undergone something of a renaissance over the past two decades. While our robust styles of Shiraz from powerhouse South Australian regions such as the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale may have put Australian wine on the map, Shiraz from our cooler regions are giving the variety a new look. Wines from Canberra, all parts of Victoria, the Adelaide Hills, and the Great Southern, are all delivering wines of finesse and spice set to a lighter framework. The tapestry of Australian Shiraz is richly diverse, and will only continue to develop and mature into the future.
