If you were looking for the best Grenache producer in Australia, Peter Fraser and Yangarra would be on a very short list. Their Old Vine Grenache is remarkable value. From vines planted in 1946, this shows the elegance and complexity that Grenache can achieve. Made with whole berries carefully left to their own devices in open fermenters and a 5-6 day cold soak before being transferred to old French oak; gently, gently is the philosophy that Fraser and Co. embrace. For sheer drinking pleasure at a great price, it is very hard to go past this wonderful Grenache. And with 95 points from James Halliday and 93 points from Gary Walsh, it would seem that the critics agree.

What it Tastes Like

"Savoury, spicy, earthy, pear drops, sausage, raspberry and cherry. Light to medium bodied, spicy and earthy, Pinot like, controlling grip of tannin, alpine herbs on a long finish. Complex. 93 or 94 points." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
