Peter Fraser's passion for all things Rhone has lead him to become one of the country's standout producers of these varieties. Mourvedre (Mataro) is a pet variety at Yangarra. This is a fine example of this variety's ability to be powerful and pretty all at once. Made only in the best years, this biodynamically grown fruit creates a wine that is perfumed and mysterious; it's the kind of wine you can sit on and watch eveolve in front of your eyes (and nose and tongue). Gary Walsh thought it was "Spot on" and James Halliday praised its "great flavour and supple mouthfeel". A textbook example from one of the country's leading exponents of the variety.

What it Tastes Like

"Fragrant, spicy, earthy, blackberries. Medium to full bodied, crisp, floral and earthy at once, grainy tannin, fresh and long to close. Super expression of Mataro. Spot on." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
