Grenache & the Barossa have a long history. This is winemaker Pete Hiscock's take on the pairing from 2014. The fruit originates from a small 37-year-old block in Light Pass. This is a beautifully judged first Grenache release from this new producer. It's serious in style yet still light on its feet - a difficult balance to maintain sometimes with this variety. In his 93 point review, Campbell Mattinson commented that, "This is a statement of quality from the outset." If the suite of 2014 reds from this producer are anything to go by, Rock of Wisdom is a Barossan name to keep an eye on. And with only 71 dozen made, the wines will not be around for long.
