- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
The McIntyre Vineyard Chardonnay is the flagship white wine in the Moorooduc range.
As with most of the other ‘Duc wines, this Chardonnay is whole bunch pressed and fermented with 100% natural yeasts giving it amazing texture and complexity. This combined with 100% naturally occurring malo whilst in barrel makes this one of the most intense iterations of Chardonnay on the Mornington Peninsula.
James Halliday agreed, awarding it a whopping 96 points, saying “Hedonism lives.”
It’s a serious, complex and powerful Chardonnay for real lovers of the variety. And with only 150 cases produced, it won’t be around long.
What It Tastes Like
“The deeper, though still bright, colour of this chardonnay sends a very accurate message of grilled cashew, fig, white peach and nectarine arriving all at once on the palate. Hedonism lives.” - James Halliday (Australian Wine Cmpanion)

This wine represents the pinnacle of style and quality of Moorooduc Estate ‘McIntyre Vineyard’ Chardonnay. A result of a stringent fruit selection from our oldest chardonnay vines, this wine expresses the unique characters of this vineyard site.
Pale gold in colour with a rich, earthy, spicy nose. Hints of white peach and buttery brioche combines with pink grapefruit tang, savoury grilled cashews and rich fois gras-like notes. On the palate the wine combines richness with restraint. It is tangy, with complex nutty notes and salted preserved lemon and shortbread notes. The wine finishes fresh and juicy with citrussy flavours that go on and on.
A delicious food wine – match to a buttery roast chicken, or a perfect cheesy and bacony pasta carbonara.

About the Producer
Richard and Jill McIntyre’s Moorooduc Estate is one of the gems of the Mornington Peninsula. Inspired by the great wines of Burgundy, they have developed their own reputation for producing extremely classy wines across the board.
The Mornington Peninsula has become a go-to destination for lovers of modern Australian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Mornington’s perfect climatic conditions for producing these varieties has seen it become, in only a relatively short time, one of the premier regions for these varieties in the country. The wines are beautiful. The best examples are wines which show a restrained power. Both intensity and elegance. It’s a region which will continue to blossom and mature for many years to come.
Australian Chardonnay is a seductive variety that comes in all shapes and sizes. From the toasty and voluptuous to the lean, flinty and minerally, there is a Chardonnay out there to suit everyone. Australia’s developing prowess with this variety has been marked by the international community with wine writers such as Jancis Robinson marvelling at the outstanding value to be had right across the country. The prestige brands of Margaret River offer wines of deep flavour and power, often crafting fuller-figured Chardonnay of outstanding quality. The cooler-climate wines from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and the like are more focused and linear, building complexity around a backbone of pristine acidity. Whatever your preference, there is an Australian Chardonnay to enchant all comers.
