About

This wine is a departure in style from the regular Gundog range for winemaker Matt Burton. The Indomitus Rutilus Shiraz is a wine of elegance and finesse. It is Canberra Shiraz made with minimal oak, some whole bunches and 4% Viognier in the mix. The 2014 is a beautiful release. Campbell Mattinson awarded it 95 points along with his scintillating review which includes, "It’s light to look at but there’s nothing light about the impression it makes. It will be a beauty given time to mature." This is Shiraz with poise and a big future ahead of it. A sensational release from Matt. Kudos.

What it Tastes Like

"It doesn’t have the overt personality of the 2013 but the quality of fruit and overall balance is similarly impressive. This will age like a charm. Cherry-plum, lead pencil, snapped twigs, roasted peanuts; yes it has all these flavours and more. Anise. Sawdusty oak. Strings of tannin, pulled tight. It’s light to look at but there’s nothing light about the impression it makes. It will be a beauty given time to mature." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
