There’s some very interesting things amongst the Eldorado Road range, and none more so than the Quasimodo.
‘Quasi’ is a blend of Durif, Shiraz and Nero d’Avola from around North East Victoria. The Durif gives the grunt, Shiraz gives the spice and structure and Nero brings the lift.
The 2014 is a top release of this wine. It was rated 92 points from Campbell Mattinson with the comments that, “It lights up the glass and keeps you coming back for more. No more need be said.”
Interest and immense drinkability, this is a versatile red perfect for all occasions.
What It Tastes Like
“Cracking release. Both drinkability and value are high here. Jubey fruit, earth and smoky/clovey oak characters combine beautifully here. This is a more-ish red if ever there was one. Red and black berries, campfire and spice. It lights up the glass and keeps you coming back for more. No more need be said.” - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
94 points. “Notwithstanding the region and blend suggesting a full-bodied wine, this is an elegant, medium-bodied style with a complex web of spicy blue, purple and black fruits, the tannins fine the oak subtle. Controlled alcohol is the key to its success, and making it ready whenever you are.”

91 points. “A bitsa blend with a great name. Mid purple, fuschia, this smells unusual from the get-go. Spearmint, game meats, plum jam. The lot. Drying and mid weight, this seems a little withdrawn and lacks some of the stuffing of the other Eldorado Wines, though the style and the swagger are there in droves. Give this a nap and the cherry juicy fruit underneath may pop out, though for the moment it’s a real mixed bag. Fun though.”

About the Producer
Eldorado Road is one of Northern Victoria’s hidden wine gems. Taking control of an impossibly old Glenrowan vineyard planted to Shiraz, they not only restored that vineyard to life but have planted small parcels of Durif and Nero d’Avola. Their wines combine richness and power with elegance and finesse. High-quality stuff!
