The duo’s profits on the wine go to a new charity each year. It’s a heartwarming project and suitable a wine that warms the belly. Bold but balanced, this is the archetype of good modern Barossa Shiraz.
What It Tastes Like
Classic Barossa. Sweet oak, woodspice, blackberry and black plum. Silky palate shot with black pepper and firm but fine tannins. Sloshes around the palate with ample fruit. It’s big but balanced and it carries its weight well. Finishes with a little black cherry liqueur kick. If in the mood for a slick Barossa red this will deliver the goods.
The Dawning Day Shiraz comes from the high part of the Barossa around 450m elevation and was made in partnership with great friend Trevor March from Heathvale wines.
Aged for 18 months in a mix of super classy French oak, some barrels so rare that only 3 each year make it out of the French forests into Australia.

While our robust styles of Shiraz from powerhouse South Australian regions such as the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale may have put Australian wine on the map, Shiraz from our cooler regions are giving the variety a new look. Wines from Canberra, all parts of Victoria, the Adelaide Hills, and the Great Southern, are all delivering wines of finesse and spice set to a lighter framework. The tapestry of Australian Shiraz is richly diverse, and will only continue to develop and mature into the future.
