- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
The Brash Higgins CBSV comes from the Omensetter vineyard which is farmed by Brad Hickey and co.
It’s 100% Cabernet which is hand picked from this beautiful site. At the time of picking the 2014, the vineyard was classed as ‘in conversion’ to organic farming.
This is a balanced, elegant Cabernet which has “Always been a solid offering for those enjoying lusher but medium weight, and judiciously oaked, cabernet sauvignon styles.” according to the Wine Front’s Mike Bennie.
It has the ripeness and luscious fruit of McLaren Vale with a touch of class.
Another great release from Brad and Nicole and with only 180 dozen made, and it being sold out at cellar door, this won’t last long.
What It Tastes Like
“Spicy cedary aromas over mint chocolate over tobacco over black berries and ripe currants. Anise and Christmas cake spice in there too. Brooding dark fruit flavours, slick, dense, but sits medium weight and fleshy through a long, generous line. Satisfying, lip smacking juice.” - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

About the Producer
Brash Higgins is the label of winemaking ‘yank’ Brad Hickey. With a background as one of America’s top sommeliers, Hickey came to Australia and fell in love with McLaren Vale and local vigneron Nicole Thorpe, with whom he now produces highly characterful, minimalist wines from their much-loved Omensetter vineyard. Wildly original and top quality stuff!
The South Australian region of McLaren Vale is famous for its powerful red wines. Shiraz and Grenache have thrived for years in the Vale’s sandy soils. Nowadays, the region’s varietal diversity has majorly increased, the coastal location and warm climate proving perfect for a new wave of varieties from Italy, Spain and Portugal. The success of varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, and Fiano has transformed McLaren Vale into one of the country’s most vibrant wine scenes. It’s where tradition meets innovation and it is producing some of the Australia’s finest wines.
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the truly Nobel grapes. An inherently structural variety, Cabernet when handled gently can produce majestic wines of grace and beauty that mature gloriously with time in the bottle. Australian Cabernet runs the full gamut of style: from lighter, more finely boned versions from regions such as the Yarra Valley, through the exquisitely complex and firm wines of Margaret River to the intensely powerful wines from the Coonawarra, there is much to explore in the world of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon.
