The Mantra Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic, muscular version of Margaret River’s flagship red variety.
The fruit is grown on a single vineyard in Wallcliffe, a western sub-region of Margaret River. It’s a typically robust Cabernet that shows the characters of both region and variety effortlessly.
It’s made with a hands-off approach, being naturally fermented and bottled without fining or filtration. The essence of Margaret River Cabernet captured with minimal intervention from the maker. Cabernet fans will find this to be an absolute bargain in the grand scheme of Cabernet from this region.
What It Tastes Like
Cassis and blackberry leaf, sweet vanillin oak and an earthy base note. It’s ripe ripe and structural without being heavy. The oak and fruit married together to create a choc-berry flavour combination. Tannins are firm but ripe. Longevity is guaranteed. Impressive wine, particularly for the price. Classic Margaret River. Classic Cabernet.
A single vineyard source on the eastern edge of the Wallcliffe sub-region (Rosa Park Vineyard, Rosa Brook).
Open-fermented in stainless vats, pressed into new and aged French oak. Racked only once post-malo, unfined, lightly filtered.

Margaret River is recognised as one of the country’s finest wine growing regions. The quality of the region’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay rival the very best in the world. But Margaret River is no two-trick-pony. There, Tempranillo and Malbec are excelling, Touriga Nacional seems to be quite at home, Chenin Blanc is getting serious and even pockets of Nebbiolo are rearing their heads. Watch this space. Who knows what new surprises are just around the corner from this famous region.
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the truly Nobel grapes. An inherently structural variety, Cabernet when handled gently can produce majestic wines of grace and beauty that mature gloriously with time in the bottle. Australian Cabernet runs the full gamut of style: from lighter, more finely boned versions from regions such as the Yarra Valley, through the exquisitely complex and firm wines of Margaret River to the intensely powerful wines from the Coonawarra, there is much to explore in the world of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon.
