- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Ipso Facto is the tiny passion project of Fraser Gallop winemaker Kate Morgan.
These wines are made in small quantities and reflect a charming, old world style of Margaret River wine.
The Chenin Blanc is made similar to a classic Chardonnay, being whole bunch pressed to barrel for fermentation and then lees stirred regularly for the next 9 months.
It’s a textural, structural, and gentle style of Chenin Blanc which is built for further development in the cellar. Beautifully crafted from nose to tail.
What It Tastes Like
Lightly tropical to smell with some subtle honeyed notes and a hint of barrel complexity. Lots of texture and great acid drive through the palate. It’s more about structure than overt flavour, and for a 2013, surprisingly looks fresh as a daisy. Chewy and delicious.
91 points. “Puff of talc, green herbs, cucumber, tonic water, lemon barley water. Pure feeling in the palate with chalky fringes and then a slippery, lemony finish. Touch of saline character too. So fresh and so lovely to drink.”

About the Producer
Kate Morgan is one of the finest winemakers in Margaret River. While she keeps herself busy with her day job at Fraser Gallop, Kate still finds time to craft small batches of elegant wines under her own label Ipso Facto. These are pure wines that eloquently articulate the variety and region.
Margaret River is recognised as one of the country’s finest wine growing regions. The quality of the region’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay rival the very best in the world. But Margaret River is no two-trick-pony. There, Tempranillo and Malbec are excelling, Touriga Nacional seems to be quite at home, Chenin Blanc is getting serious and even pockets of Nebbiolo are rearing their heads. Watch this space. Who knows what new surprises are just around the corner from this famous region.
