This is a unique wine in the Australian landscape. Blaufrankisch is red grape variety planted widely throughout Austria. Hahndorf Hill's winemaker Larry Jacobs spotted the variety's potential in the Adelaide Hills some years ago and has made some very good examples of 'Blau' for almost a decade. It's a late ripening variety - hence its success in the cooler Adelaide Hills climate. It's a wonderfully fragrant and supple wine that gets better each release. This is a joyful red, medium to light in weight and loaded with spicy blueberry flavours. While there is plenty of structure in the mouth, it really is fun to drink right now. If you want to try something one-of-a-kind, then this will be right up your alley.

What it Tastes Like

"Light but insistent. Juicy fruit meets throaty, spicy tannin, though the juiciness of the fruit clearly cuts through to victory. Sweet-sour cherries, Xmas cake, cinnamon. Interesting wine from various angles." - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)
