- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Bleasdale really are an iconic Australian winery. They have an incredible history dating back to the 1850's, when a man named Frank Potts planted the first vines in the Langhorne Creek region. Descendants of Frank's are remarkably still responsible for putting Bleasdale's wines together. One variety Bleasdale are renowned for is Malbec, and they comfortably lay claim to being one of the country's finest exponents of the variety. The “Generations” is their flagship Malbec. Big, weighty and powerful, this wine exemplifies the full potential of this illustrious variety here is Aus.
What it Tastes Like
Ink pot purple and oh so dense in the glass, it just looks impressive. The oak is definitely making itself known at the moment but a little air in the glass sees it blow off quick smart. Violet and mulberry with some savoury characters on the nose, but it’s the mouthfeel that is most impressive. Big, gutsy and mouth filling, the chewy oak tannins at the fore filled out by plush, sweet plums and black currants. Big wine. A lot of fun to drink.
93 points. "Small parcels from estate blocks vinified separately from start to finish in new and used French oak. Convincing colour, and at the heavyweight/top end of the malbec scale, with loads of earthy plum and black fruits; the fruit has swallowed the oak, and the tannins are in balance. Deserves time." - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)
Our Generations Wines celebrate multiple generations of family involvement and grower relationships. Bleasdale has been producing Malbec table wine since 1961. Individual vineyard blocks are picked and crushed separately before maturation and blending. This wine is dark purple with intense aromas of violets, blackberry, plum and clove spice held together with assertive but velvety tannins. A long rich opulent palate complemented and underscored by toasty oak.
