When Ben Haines discovered the Under Woods vineyard in 2010, he knew he had struck gold. If the vineyard managed to stave off the constant assaults from the local wildlife and tough it out through the drought, he knew he would have some first class fruit on his hands. It doesn't happen every year but in 2013, this little Yarra Valley vineyard encircled by Aussie Bush produced some of its best fruit to date. James Halliday awarded it 96 points and commented on its "exotically complex bouquet" and "...the textured, medium to full-bodied palate with rippling tannin muscles" - a great insight into the wine. This is a phenomenal depiction of Yarra Syrah, and one that truly demonstrates Ben's formidable skills when working with this grape. First class all the way.
